A Brief History of the Position

The primary responsibilities of the Vice President (Communications) include:

- Being available to answer questions or direct to those best suited to respond, or generally interacting with the King's Community;
- Producing and distributing a document, entitled “This Week at King’s”, on or before every Sunday preceding each week in the academic year;
- Ensuring that accurate, complete, and updated information concerning Union activities be placed on appropriate bulletin boards and the website of the King's Students' Union;
- Issuing notices of meeting of the Union and Council, as well as maintaining attendance and an official roll at Council meetings;
- Monitoring and handling issues pertaining to the Constitution, in addition to sitting on the Constitutional Review Committee;
- Being in charge of the minute-books of the Union and Council;
- Preparing and distributing agendas prior to each meeting of Council;
- Recording with accuracy and efficiency, in coordination with the KSU Scribe, the proceedings of the Union and Council and bind and submit these to Council at the end of each term;
- Maintaining custody of the Seal of the Union, to keep it properly secure when not in use, and to ensure that it is used only when authorized by the President, Executive, or Council, as the case may be;
- Supervising the Union-hired positions of Web Editor and Scribe;
- Keeping available and updated copies of the Constitution and Union Procedural Handbook;
- Maintaining a log of any official complaints lodged against any employee of the Union;

- Spending a minimum of five hours per week in the KSU Office;
- Attending most, if not all, meetings of the King's Students' Union Council;
- Performing other such duties as Council may from time to time determine.
