Earlier this term, Dalhousie got rid of the note-taking accommodation. The accommodation provided to students with disabilities, typed notes from peers in the class. The accommodation levelled the playing field for students whose disability created a barrier to physically entering the classroom space, or who struggled to record class content while present. Despite approving the note-taking accommodation for students this term, Dalhousie switched over to a recorded lecture model. The model asks that professors share recorded lectures with students who have been approved for the accommodation. Dalhousie neglected to inform both students requiring the accommodation and professors of the change. Instead, they opted to quietly remove the note-taking portal from the website after classes had resumed, leaving both students and professors to figure it out on their own.Â
